Chatswood Airport Transfers — Kingsford Smith & Western Sydney International
Sydney has two airports, and we cover both. Whether you are flying from the familiar terminals at Sydney Kingsford Smith (SYD) or the new Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI), Chatsworth Bus Hire gets your group there reliably, comfortably and on time.
Two airports, one trusted transfer partner
From the Lower North Shore, Kingsford Smith remains the closer airport — usually 30 to 40 minutes through the Harbour Tunnel. Western Sydney International is a longer run west, around an hour via the M2 and M7. That difference matters when you are weighing up a cheaper WSI fare, and it matters even more when the flight is at an hour the trains do not run. As WSI ramps up to full operations through 2026 and 2027, we are building our transfer network around both hubs.

Why WSI changes the game — and why you will need a transfer partner
Western Sydney International is Sydney's first curfew-free airport, which means flights can land and depart at any hour. Red-eye arrivals, midnight departures and everything in between. That is a significant win for travellers and businesses who have never had that flexibility at Kingsford Smith.
There is a catch: Sydney Metro and train services do not run overnight
If your flight touches down at 2am, or you need to check in for a 4am departure, public transport simply is not an option during those hours. That gap is wider from the North Shore, where a WSI trip means crossing the city as well. Our airport transfer service operates any time of day or night, so a late landing or an early departure is never a logistics problem — it is just a booking.

Frequently asked questions
How far is Chatswood from each Sydney airport?
Sydney Kingsford Smith is generally a 30 to 40 minute drive from Chatswood via the Harbour Tunnel and the Eastern Distributor. Western Sydney International at Badgerys Creek is a longer run of around 60 to 75 minutes, heading west on the M2 and M7. Both depend on your exact pickup address and the traffic on the day, and the harbour crossing is the main variable on the Kingsford Smith route.
Is it worth travelling from the North Shore out to WSI?
It depends on your flight. Kingsford Smith is closer, so if both airports offer what you need, it is usually the simpler choice. WSI becomes worth the extra distance when the fare is meaningfully cheaper, when the route you want only operates from there, or when your flight falls outside Kingsford Smith's curfew hours. We quote both, so you can compare the ground transport cost alongside the airfare before you decide.
When does Western Sydney International Airport open to passengers?
Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport begins passenger operations in October 2026, following the start of cargo flights earlier in the year. Airline services will expand progressively through late 2026 and into 2027. We are already taking transfer bookings for travel dates once passenger flights commence.
Do you run airport transfers overnight?
Yes. We operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This matters most at WSI, which is Sydney's first curfew-free airport, so flights can arrive and depart at any hour. Sydney Metro and train services do not run overnight, which leaves a genuine gap for anyone landing at 2am or checking in for a 4am departure. Our transfers cover those hours.
How many passengers can you carry?
Our fleet covers small parties through to large groups. Vehicle options range from cars and minibuses for a handful of travellers up to full-size coaches for school groups, sporting teams, corporate parties and conference delegations. Tell us your passenger count and luggage volume and we will recommend the right vehicle or combination of vehicles.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
We monitor your flight and adjust the pickup time automatically. If your flight lands early or runs late, your driver's schedule moves with it, so you are not left waiting and you are not charged for a missed pickup. Just supply your flight number when you book.
Is the price fixed before I travel?
Yes. All of our airport transfers are quoted as a fixed price and confirmed in writing before the day of travel. There is no meter, no surge pricing and no variation based on traffic or time of day. Tolls on the harbour crossing and the motorways are included in the quoted figure.
I am not sure which Sydney airport my flight uses. Can you check?
Send us your flight number and we will confirm which airport it operates from and plan your pickup accordingly. With two Sydney airports now in operation, and some airlines running services to both, it is worth checking before you travel.
Do you handle transfers for schools, businesses and conferences?
Yes. Group and corporate transfers are a core part of what we do. We coordinate multi-vehicle movements for conferences, corporate travel, school excursions and sporting fixtures, including staggered arrivals across several flights and multiple pickup points. Contact our team with your itinerary and we will build the schedule around it.
